About Katherine:

I hold a B.S. in Biosypchology from the University of Michigan and am in my final year of pursuing my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Missouri. I was fortunate to have a math professor for a mother and research physicist for a father. Although I did not follow directly in their footsteps, the solid foundation they provided me in math and science has helped me pursue my occupational dreams - a specific example would be that my quantitative score on the GRE (730) helped rather than hindered my getting into graduate school. A few academic achievements I am proud of include completing Calculus 3 with an A, scoring a 5 on the Advanced Placement English exam, and being the go-to person for my graduate school peers when they need help with statistics. Some of the incredible opportunities I have had that I believe would not have been possible without a strong background in math and science include: Presenting my research on synesthesia at Oxford and other conferences, working with defendants in forensic psychology, and ultimately looking forward to an interesting and rewarding career.

I have three years of teaching experience at the college level and have been tutoring my peers and their children in math and science (and occasionally in writing) for years. From these experiences I believe that the most effective tutoring method is to encourage a person to utilize their preferred learning style.
