About Loukea:

I have had a successful career teaching Chemistry and AP Chemistry for 14 years. My students do well, and seem to enjoy Chemistry. For the past several years. 97% of my students have earned a passing grade on their AP Exam, a success rate much higher than the national average. I enjoy teaching. I enjoy opening doors that seem prematurely closed to students. Often the wonder of Chemistry is lost in the endless calculations and abstract ideas. My goal is to make those ideas clear to students so they can truly appreciate all that Chemistry has to offer. I spend a great deal of time at sea working on research boats where my Chemistry education is extremely valuable. By doing these projects, I am in tune with what graduate schools and employers are looking for in a chemist. My skills are up to date. I started my education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. From there, I went to Central Michigan University to earn a Secondary Teaching Certificate, and then on to Eastern Michigan University for a Masters in Chemistry Education. I continue to take classes at colleges such as University of Massachusetts, Cal State, SUNY Brockport and University of Kansas. I enjoy learning, and expanding my knowledge base. I have participated in workshops all over the country including a two week program at the US Naval Academy. I have Experience in Forensic Science, and Oceanography. I have presented at National Conferences on a variety of topics. I have received many awards for my teaching techniques. I spend the winters teaching, and ofen tutoring students one on one at the high school and University level. Recently, I tutored a group of nursing students in Chemistry. I much enjoyed working with these motivated students. I have collected study techniques throughout the years that have been successful with students of all ability levels. I am looking forward to working with you to improve your chemistry and math skills.
