I love to teach, I love to think and I love to learn. To me, learning, thinking and teaching are inseparable and essential.

My love of teaching comes from the nearly four years that I have spent as a first grade reading tutor with the Alexandria City Public Schools. It is rewarding to watch a student progress in the development of reading and word skills and to see the self-confidence that comes with attainment of those skills.

My love of teaching also comes from more than twenty-five years as a practicing attorney. I enjoy the opportunity to educate the court about a pending legal matter and also enjoy the art of crafting a well-written, persuasive legal argument. I love teaching about legal matters to non-lawyers. I especially relish the opportunity, through public outreach and education, to teach non-lawyers about civil rights issues.

My love of learning has existed since early childhood. I was challenged always to strive for the best, always to think and always to learn. This ethos continues to permeate my life. Teaching allows me to think, to learn and to grow. I strive to instill my excitement about learning in others. My teaching style incorporates the review of known materials, the study of new materials and positive reinforcement. I believe in flexibility in learning, and encouragement, never in frustration.

Policy: I offer tutoring at a mutually convenient, agreed upon location with limited or no distractions.

My first tutoring session is free. If we are a good fit, we can proceed to schedule further appointments.

I try to be flexible with scheduling. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but offer makeup classes.
