My daughter just turned 6 and has completed three lessons with Ms. Siko. We requested to learn traditional Chinese and it has been a great experience so far. Since my daughter knows her alphabet and sounds, pinyin has also been a (surprisingly) great way to kick off her interest and confidence in learning Chinese. I appreciate Ms. Siko for her punctuality, gentleness, and firmness in working with my active 6 year old. She uses both worksheets and videos (of songs and stories) to make each lesson fun.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
