I am a professional private tutor with 26 years' experience in teaching adults and kids. I offer a promotional rate for kids ($30/h); and personalized curricula to fit each student's goals, with rates from $35/h through $220/h. As a college-level teacher I've trained Washington D.C. diplomats, worked for Open University Business School (U.K.), the University of Texas, a private GT kids school, and provided executive language training. My courses differ significantly from other tutors' methods because I am trained in philology, Orton-Gillingham method, diplomacy, and specialized linguistics. Primarily I teach English, Italian, French, and European Cultural and Historical Studies.
I am European and have been a U.S. citizen for the past 17 years. I earned an MA degree at Georgetown University and George Washington University, Washington D.C., specializing in European studies/ International business; and a BA degree in philology (languages, cultures)/English, French, and Italian. Additionally, I studied at The Italian Center (Naples, Italy), France Language (Nice, France); and in Quebec City, Canada.
Through WyzAnt I offer Personalized-Curriculum Intensive Immersion 4-hour courses in any of the listed subjects, or a combination of subjects, for any student's goal. My courses emulate the language training usually offered in diplomatic schools and similar to governmental ILR testing for diplomats. An immersion program typically involves shortcuts to grammatical comprehension, in-depth analysis through media articles, movies, TV documentaries, literature, and online study.
ENGLISH Immersion Courses
The SAT/ACT courses cover intensive training for college preparation. In my classes students are also exposed to grammar, literature, media/TV and other sources. I use the Orton-Gillingham method, applied linguistics, and European-style philological approach that ensures well-rounded training. The English humanities course is personalized and may include professional English for executives, as well as a large number of sources including business, cultural studies, all humanities, and international affairs. The TOEFL course may include field trips and immersion analyses of grammar, reading, writing, and speaking.
FRENCH Immersion courses and ITALIAN Immersion courses
In D.C., MD, and TX I have taught French and/or Italian to numerous private students, adults and kids. I've had students who told me they had studied Italian or French for 2-3 years before yet they were still unable to make basic conversation. In my immersion class they learned in four hours everything they needed through specially-structured charts and memorisation approaches. We practice shortcuts to grammar and personalized vocabulary, as well as many foreign TV sources and genuine literature in French or Italian to ensure proper linguistic and cultural immersion between and after lessons.
COLLEGE PROJECT ASSISTANCE is provided in English, Italian, and French for: literature/arts, essay writing/editing, business, philosophy, history, social studies, and international affairs.

Over the past few years I designed a course addressing the needs of ADD/ADHD-diagnosed kids which has proven highly successful. It employs a European method based on specific child-psychology studies and immersion study materials from regular courses along with ADD-ADHD targeting approaches which kids have enjoyed and assimilated surprisingly well. ADHD courses are offered to students aged 5-10. Try this intensive immersion teaching method before medicating your child, you may find out medication was not necessary....
"My 9-year-old son... was on an ADHD medicine since his public school recommended he be medicated, and the local doctors supported this with the prescription. Upon the very first class, Gabriela ran some educational tests and assessed my son who disclosed his frustrations, ambitions, his favorite school subjects. From that moment on, my son has not been taking the ADHD medicine. His mother and I have done years of research and have experimented with diet and discipline to manage his behavior, however we experienced more growth in him after we started Gabriela's program where he is making great advancements in both his English and French as well as in his self-control and manners and his behavior. I am genuinely thrilled to have my son enrolled in this intensive European-method program." --Jon from Coppell, TX.
Fees for ADHD courses differ based on case study and program provided.
