I have been teaching math since 1983 at both the high school and college levels. After I got my MBA, I started teaching business courses such as accounting, finance, and economics at a community college, but math and statistics are my favorites. Most of the students I work with are at the high school level or above, and many are enrolled in online courses for which there is little instructor-led support. I also do test prep for ACT and SAT.

I am available evenings and weekends and am flexible as to location. I will tutor in your home or in the local Borders, Starbucks, or library if it suits your needs. I travel with a laptop, so computer applications such as Excel, Word, SPSS and Access are also a possibility.

Business

I earned my MBA back in 1982. Since then I have taught all kinds of business courses, mostly at the community college level. These include business, economics, accounting, and finance.
I have taught computer applications for business, and back in the late 1980s I taught spreadsheet applications for business. My (adult) students included both businessmen and administrative professionals.

Microsoft Access

I have been using Access since 2000. Access is essential when accommodating the demands of the large healthcare organization for which I work. I have also used Access to generate the stats for the articles I publish in professional journals, the most recent of which examined the birth outcomes of Medicaid and CHIP women.

TAKS

I have worked with students in the past who have failed the test and achieved better than average results. My most recent student, who I started tutoring in math when she was a HS sophomore, had failed the TAKS the year before but after weekly tutoring she passed the 10th grade TAKS and later the exit TAKS easily.

Tulane University Loyola University (MBA)

Great for Professionals — Louise spent a lot of time with my mom helping her with statistics, especially SPSS software. Louise is great and easy to converse with. She knows the topics and doesn't have to re-learn them before she gets to helping you. My mom is an RN who needed help with statistics (online) as part of an advanced degree. Louise was great to have a local resource.
