Hello, my name is Sherri W., a 53-year-old wife, mother, and grandmother from southern Ohio where I have lived my whole life. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My hobbies are attending dirt track races, watching NASCAR, basketball, and football, riding my own motorcycle, watching my niece and nephew play sports and race go karts, and spending time with my son and grandson, which I consider a blessing from God.
I have been in education since 2002, since my graduation from Ohio University, Athens. I first taught at Dawson-Bryant Middle School working with students in English, math, US history, American history, and Ohio history then being hired as the ancient world history teacher. In 2008, I became the SMR/ISS (Student Management Resource/In School Suspension) teacher at Wellston High School in Wellston, Ohio until 2012. My students were from grades 9-12, and my duties were to conduct a classroom for students that were written up for discipline/misbehavior problems toward other students/teachers.
As a tutor I will have lesson plans pertaining to the subject, along with reading assignments, worksheets, study guides, pre-testing and testing. I want my students to feel comfortable and enjoy learning. I feel that testing children doesn't measure a student's knowledge because you learn more than what may be on the test. I would expect a quiet environment for tutoring. Each student learns in their own way and I will work to bring out the best in that student. I believe that every child is different and learns in different ways.
