About Pablo

Bio

For the past 20 years I have been teaching Spanish to students of every age. My expertise in Spanish stems both from my knowledge of it as a native speaker and my studies of it as a Master’s student at Barcelona University. I also completed an additional Masters dedicated to the philosophy and methodology of teaching.

I brought my combination of skills into the classrooms for the last 12 years. Most recently I was hired to teach Spanish at the competitive Jesuit Prep School of Manhattan....

For the past 20 years I have been teaching Spanish to students of every age. My expertise in Spanish stems both from my knowledge of it as a native speaker and my studies of it as a Master’s student at Barcelona University. I also completed an additional Masters dedicated to the philosophy and methodology of teaching.

I brought my combination of skills into the classrooms for the last 12 years. Most recently I was hired to teach Spanish at the competitive Jesuit Prep School of Manhattan. While there I began teaching our school’s most advanced coursework, including our AP and honors courses. I was eventually appointed as the Department Chair, where I have had the pleasure of helping structure our program and mentor our teachers. I take great pride in the fact that the majority of our students have received the highest available score on the Advanced Placement Spanish Language and Advanced Placement Spanish Literature Exams.

Outside of the classroom I have enjoyed tutoring students. Tutoring provides more agency to build my student’s excitement for the subject and to tailor my lessons to the needs and learning patterns of each.

Gets the Job Done!

Pablo is a very organized, supportive, and thorough teacher that figures out where the student's weaknesses or shortcomings lie and then proceeds to strengthen those areas. He is instinctual, dependable and moves ahead to make sure the student is on target. My daughter's Accelerated Spanish course is very challenging and Pablo has helped her transition and accomplish her goals.

excellent tutor

My daughter struggled with Spanish all year. No matter what she did she earned a B+, B or B-. In the very last week of the semester she worked with Pablo for the final test hoping to secure at least a B in the class and perhaps even a B+. She had two sessions with Pablo before this test and then earned an A on it (A+ after corrections). Without any doubt, Pablo was the crucial factor. He’s very good!

My daughter worked with Pablo today and was thrilled with the progress she was making. He guided her through her assignment but allowed my daughter to apply her own knowledge and assess her abilities. My daughter came out of the lesson feeling much more confident about her future in Spanish than when she went in. Highly recommend Pablo!!! She is looking forward to her next lesson and working with him this year.

Knowledgeable, engaging and flexible tutor.

Pablo clearly knows how to teach. I look forward to his working with my son. He is responsive, prompt and creative. He was open to working with us to figure out a reasonable schedule and to figure out how best to support. I was particularly impressed by his ability to find a way to provide services for a class with no syllabus or pre-defined structure.

Excellent Spanish tutor, very patient, responsible, practical, effective and caring. He is the one that you must have.

Max is a junior at high school in NY. He selects Spanish as a second language and is in Spanish level III. He came to US to study from Taiwan in 2012. He has no exposure in Spanish speaking environment and is struggling in learning the language. Even though he studies very hard, he still gets B+. Fortunately we are able to find Pablo E. through WyzAnt. Pablo is very patient, responsible, practical, effective and caring. He tried to understand the areas that Max needs improvement and prepared practices materials in advance, so Max can work on his problems. Pablo talks to Max only in Spanish in order to improve Max’s listening comprehension. Pablo also gives the parent a detailed description of class. After a couple of tutoring lessons with Pablo, Max got an A in his upper school exam last week. It is amazing. We are so pleased with the accomplishment. Pablo is the tutor that you must have.

Excellent Tutor for SAT Spanish Test

My daughter was planning to take the upcoming SAT Spanish Subject test on 6/7 but she had a lot of trouble on grammar when preparing. We were very lucky to find Mr. Pablo at Wyzant. He is familiar with the college board SAT Spanish test and with his teaching experience, he caught my daughter's weakness right after the first class. Focusing on the target area he provided practice materials for her to review after the tutoring. He is very patient, attentive, and accommodating to student's needs and he was very kind to squeeze out some extra time for my daughter from his tight schedule. My daughter now feels much more confident after just six classes of tutoring!
