Qualifications for “Math”

When I helped my grandson with his middle-school math, I knew how important it was for him to have a solid foundation in the pre-algebra he was studying. I am certified to teach pre-algebra through Algebra 2 and qualified to teach College Algebra. I have years of tutoring experience in upper level Algebra and have found that the misunderstandings and errors high school and college students make is due to their poor foundation in pre-Algebra.

ACT English

The ACT English test covers the same grammar, punctuation and rhetorical skills on every test. After determining exactly what English skills the student needs, I provide instruction and practice. My ACT tutoring methods, based on many years of tutoring and lots of research, are similar for all four subjects tested. I can easily summarize my methods in two words: review and practice. Most students need review in one or more of the four subjects, but all need help with test practice. I only use real ACT tests so the student gets used to the type and wording of each question. The ACT asks the same information on all of its tests and by taking many tests, the student becomes very familiar and thus comfortable with the questions. This relieves much of the anxiety of taking the actual test.

I also provide methods to answer the questions quicker and with more accuracy. My ACT tutoring methods, based on many years of tutoring and lots of research, are similar for all four subjects tested. Physical Science

I was referred to as the Physical Science "Queen" when I taught this subject in high school because I took the course from a "lecture" course to a laboratory-based course. One reason why I loved teaching it is because ninth-graders had to take it and I enjoyed teaching that age group.

ASVAB

ASVAB

The ASVAB consists of a battery of tests given to those who want to enlist in the U. S. Military. My tutoring consists of help for all of the tests through explanations, examples, reading and study guides, and lots of math and vocabulary practice. I assign homework to reinforce what takes place during tutoring. As I provide review in all the subjects, I emphasize test-taking skills such as short cuts and time management. Finally, I give many practice ASVAB tests. By the time the student is ready to take the actual ASVAB, he/she is very comfortable and confident with all the tests.

Excellent Tutor

I would like to say many many thanks to Jane for my son. My son was with her for 5 years and is now going to college. Whenever he was having trouble with schoolwork he was upset and sad and I felt bad when I saw this but after he had his lesson with Jane he always had a smile on his face because of his positive experience and his newfound understanding in the topics. From the bottom of my heart I want to say a big thank you to Jane for everything that you've done for my son. Thank you so much for your patience, for your knowledge, and for your kindness. His success is your success too. I can't thank you enough for everything that you've done for him and to be a part of his growth. We wish you all the best and good health to you and your family. We recommend Jane to everyone and those who have her as a tutor are the luckiest of them all.

Patient tutor

The best I have ever seen!!!! She took her time with my son. He is not always the easiest child to deal with. She did great with him. Literally the first tutor he has not any issues with. Even described her as super nice. Will definitely be using her for all future math needs!! Thanks Jane.

knowledgeable & accomodating

Jane as a tutor always went above and beyond for her students. She took the time to listen to the areas of concern as well as to help me improve my scores. She gave me plenty of practice material and exams. She even lowered her prices knowing I was struggling and for that I am forever grateful. Jane is knowledgeful to several topics and would always go out of her way to explain something that I did not know. She is caring and truly one of a kind. I am glad to have worked with her and feel that she truly helped me advance in my field of study.
