My name is Tom.
I am an experienced Math and Science teacher of 22 years. I currently teach Math at Pinckney High School. I have taught all levels of math, from 7th grade Math up to Calculus (including Geometry and Trigonometry). I have also taught High School Physics. I enjoy teaching and I have a knack for it. I have had many students over the years come back and tell me how much they learned in my classroom. I am a graduate from Michigan State University, and I hold a Masters in History from Eastern Michigan. I am certified to teach 6-12 in Math, Science and History in the State of Michigan. Though new to WyzAnt, I have tutored students from Howell and Pinckney over the years. In my spare time I am an avid Mountain Biker.
Typically as a tutor, I see myself primarily as helping the student to understand his or her homework, and look for "gaps" in understanding that lead to academic difficulties. My "curriculum" is really set by the student's needs in the subject area. I also provide pointers to help the student's study skills.
I am very familiar with the Howell and Pinckney school systems (as I am a teacher in Pinckney and have had children in the Howell school system), and personally know many of the Howell teachers and counselors.
