Latin and Greek, English grammar, reading, writing, vocab., lit.

Most people don't notice it, but the world we live in is still very much a Greek and Roman world. Those two ancient languages are the best way to begin seeing how much we have inherited from that classical culture. They're hard, it's true; but I can help you do very well and enjoy it too! I'm the former Program Director for Classics at Boston Latin School (1999 to 2011) and I have a great deal of experience teaching at the collegiate level as well.

And Latin and Greek also are the best ways to build English vocabulary and to really understand the principles of grammar and good writing style. I can help you with your reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature.

Latin

Latin is still the very best foundation subject for academic success in many disciplines: English, history, the sciences, and modern languages. It's not easy, but I can show you how to make it fun and efficient to learn.

Greek

I hold a Ph.D. in Classics, which includes mastery of both ancient Greek and Latin. While Latin is much more frequently taught and learned in schools, ancient Greek is not. But interest in ancient Greek is growing, and I am ready to help you with tutoring in this wonderful subject. I have a great deal of experience teaching Greek, both classical prose and archaic/epic poetry. I have taught Herodotus, Xenophon, Attic orators, Aristophanes, Plato, Hesiod, and Homer.
