Hi, my name is Jordan. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, which is where I learned to read Hebrew
. I learned how to read and chant Hebrew from tutors and have always had great experiences with them. After having my Bar Mitzvah
, I continued my affiliation with my congregation by working in our Hebrew Lab at Sunday School, where I assisted children in Grades 1-7 in developing their Hebrew reading
skills for their upcoming Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. I found the work to be incredibly rewarding and something that I enjoyed doing a great deal.
I graduated from Willamette University in Salem, OR, in 2012 with a B.A. in Theatre
, with a Minor in English
. I recently moved to Chicago to pursue a career in acting and am currently a student of the Conservatory at the Second City Training Center. Throughout my years away from home, I never lost sight of my faith and the language
that I had enjoyed teaching to others, and upon my arrival in Chicago, I realized that I missed teaching Hebrew and decided to return to it.
I remember that in Sunday School, there were some students who were never excited to go to Hebrew Lab. One of my goals as a tutor was to ensure that the Hebrew Lab was a place that students could look forward to coming to. I had a great passion for learning the language and enjoyed sharing the passion with others, hoping that they would enjoy the experience as much as I did. I continue the use of this philosophy
in preparing others for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, ensuring that the environment in which students learn is one in which they can feel comfortable learning the language regardless of their familiarity with the language.
I am also very proficient in Theatre and English and am offering my services for tutoring in those subjects as well.
