Bible Studies

Spending several years in a religion based school, I have been exposed in detail, to certain types of religions that are out there. I have studied religious history, and am familiar with many of the basic historical core values that make up each particular religion. Any student who requires information based on factual data and biblical principles, will be pleased by the tremendous hours of biblical study I have done. In addition, I have taught many individuals the basics of Christianity.

Business

Since the age of 18, I have owned a business, tutored at a middle school, tutored college students, have been a day trader in the stock market, and have earned two Master's degrees. These degrees were in business and information technologies. Therefore, any subject in business would be welcomed, whereas I have practical experience teaching and working in a variety of organizational environments.

Chess

I began playing chess, which is translated "war" around 1995. I have studied the tutorial on Chess master 5000, which is an excellent tool for anyone desiring to understand the theory, opening moves, and allows one to play different personalities, such as Bobby Fisher. In addition, I have played matches against many individuals on physical chess boards, and have gained an insight into teaching the basics of this complex and exciting game.

ESL/ESOL

Collectively, we all strive to improve our communication abilities. I have learned minimal amounts of alternate languages, yet, find myself surrounded by the great benefits of reaching beyond the English vocabulary. Learning is fun, and teaching is learning.

Guitar

Starting in 1993, I began playing the guitar, with little success. Therefore, I starting reading books on musical theory, which eventually lead to giving instructions to multiple students. Techniques, theory, and over 3000 hours of practice, have allowed me to develop a sense of how different students require different methods of instruction. In general, I like students to select their own music, meanwhile studying theory to assist them in developing their musical talents.

Macroeconomics

Being an active trader on the stock exchange for five years, my ability to determine economic variables, market values, and other economic implications has improved greatly. As for the student, I should be able to teach or tutor the topic of economics to you, with an adequate understanding.

Marketing

Through various speech assignments in college, my ability to design marketing plans for products and services have grown. Owning a retail store was a solid experience that required me to understand how to sell a product, meanwhile maintaining a sufficient profit margin. I have tutored on many subjects, yet marketing and business are my strengths. Advertisement and promotion, analysis of competitors and their prices, and geographical implications, are topics I understand and am qualified to teach.

Microeconomics

Being an active trader on the stock exchange for five years, my ability to determine economic variables, market values, and other economic implications has improved greatly. As for the student, I should be able to teach or tutor the topic of economics to you, with an adequate understanding.

Public Speaking

As I was working at the State Center middle school, short speeches were a common task that needed to be performed, which became easier and less stressful. After much practice, it became easier to give presentations with more authority, clarity, and meaning. Professionally and educationally, I have given in excess of one hundred presentation, and have been required to be an active participant in the evaluation and correction of other presentations. Hence, I have tremendous experience developing and practicing the foundations of what it takes to become a quality speaker, whether it be small or large groups.

Softball

Starting at the age four, I started playing baseball, all the way to the collegiate level. Analyzing swings, learning the proper throwing and fielding techniques, and understanding the basic rules of the game, were skills I learned from the University of Northern Iowa through their baseball coaching class. Likewise, I have studied the Pete Rose hitting video, and love to instruct students using his philosophies.

Study Skills

To begin, Ironically, I have tutored in State Center's middle school back in 1996. Originally, my job was evaluating trouble students. I turned my office into a tutoring and social area for kids to, at the minimal, have increased self-esteem about themselves. As a result, I found their grades significantly improved. During my undergraduate studies, I often ran study groups and would condense class information for others and created a specialized "text to class" check list. To illustrate, I would read each chapter according to the Syllabus, create a list of all major topics contained within that chapter, print out the list, the students and I would bring this to class, and if your accurate, you simply check off the significant data. As I found to be true, a little writing in class allows for a much better listener, that is one of the benefits of applying this method. This, ultimately increases their grades and reduces the amount of time spent per assignment. I also coached 7th Grade football in Marshalltown, IA. for parks and Recreation. My aptitude on the topic of study skills and test taking rely heavily on my level of education, Master of Business Administration. It seems I have taken 1000 test and wrote 500 papers. For example, I have taken Educational Psychology, Psychology of learning and of persuasion,human growth and development, and a great deal more. In Closing, I would like to give one last example that underscores my aptitude and its applicability towards being a tutor. The Zone of Proximal Development,Vygotsky's study,taught me to keep students unique learning abilities always in mind. Hence, every one learns the proper ways to achieve by using different methodologies and each person learns in different amounts of time.
