Hi, my name is Mark M. I am 34 years old and I am currently an 8th grade math teacher in Richmond County. I am finishing my masters degree in education from Augusta State University (now GRU) and will graduate in May 2013. I have a degree in chemical engineering from Clemson University, and have always enjoyed math, numbers, and science.
As a first year teacher, it has been a true pleasure to make a difference in the lives of my students. I have 8 years of experience as an engineer in industry and feel that I have been able to bring that real world application to the classroom and show my students why they are learning what they are learning, which is just as important as actually learning the material.
I have a desire to work with students to help them as they progress in their learning experience, and feel that tutoring is an excellent avenue outside the school. I have an infinite amount of patience, and believe that is one of the biggest keys to working with students. One of my best success stories involved a high school student who was struggling in math with a failing grade of 68 midway through the second semester. After working with her once a week, she made a 102 on her next major test, which was the highest grade in the class, and she finished the year with a B average! I was so proud of her, and she and her parents were so appreciative of our hard work. What a gratifying and fulfilling experience that is as a tutor.
I have experience working with elementary, middle school, high school, college students, as well as adults, and am willing to work with students of all ages. I am also willing to tutor on any subject, but specialize in the areas of math/science. Be sure to check out my videos and blog posts on my profile for free lessons and tips. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance. Thank you.
