Georgia Institute of Technology (Applied Mathematics)
My name is Alex and I have been tutoring math and science subjects at the high school and college level since 2008. I recently graduated from Georgia Tech where I received a BS in Applied Mathematics, and I plan on continuing my education in order to obtain my teaching certificate.
My tutoring style is very engaged where I try to focus on making my students understand the material instead of just memorizing particular algorithms. I often find that when I start with a new student, it is not the current material that is necessarily the problem, but rather some more fundamental skill that has not been properly developed. I pride myself in my ability to identify this lacking skill and building back up from it. I also focus on the mastery of problem solving strategies that are applicable to not only the current class, but also to every future class.
I usually meet with my students either in a public location such as a coffee shop or library, or for the convenience of parents, I can meet at the student's home.
I believe that I can help you or your child and I look forward to hearing from you! Hello!

We are very pleased with Alex. He is a very good teacher and very patient. He explains physics and calculus in a way may daughter can understand.
My son's geometry grades were 80 and 85. We had one lesson with Alex and got a 97% on his next test. His method of asking questions to ensure my son understands the concepts works great for him.
We anticipate weekly lessons to ensure a solid foundation in geometry.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
