Dear Chinese learners,

I'm Sammie, a native Beijinger, and have been teaching Chinese for 4 years.

Whether you need help with speaking, listening, reading comprehension, or writing, I can help enhance these critical skills which are necessary to build confidence in using the language. My students represent a wide range of ages, professions, and proficiency levels, and learning styles.

In Beijing, I was a journalist and reported on the 2008 Olympics Games. The following year, I moved to Washington where I received my Master's at the George Washington University.

I am currently a Chinese instructor at a government agency. In addition, I have experience with preparing individuals for the HSK - Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi - Chinese language proficiency test, the SAT Chinese exams, the Defense Language Proficiency Test - DLPT - to meet desired listening and reading scores. I also assist my current students studying for the placement and proficiency tests of their respective university programs in the DC area.

I highly value a student-oriented teaching philosophy. My class is personalized based on your needs and language level. I'm good at designing different class activities to help you to understand and use the language in various situations. My students find my class fun and engaging.

I live in Arlington VA, close to Washington D.C. We can meet at any place that is metrorail accessible.
