I bring a binational background and a number of years of teaching/tutoring experience to the table. My mother is French, and I grew up speaking the language as well as English. In college, I minored in Spanish, studying a semester in Spain, and I have continued to use my Spanish in various positions and social situations since then. I love to help others understand what I have been able to learn and can help teach English, French or Spanish using a combination of textbooks, exercises and informal conversation.
In college, I majored in Politics, and through volunteer activities have lectured on various historical and political topics. I read newspapers avidly, and my passion for social studies shows. I try to get social studies students to learn history and politics not just as a series of facts, but as a living, breathing process that shapes the world we live in today.
In addition to my specific areas of interest, I love to tutor and teach in general, and have experience doing so. Between 2002 and 2003, I was an adjunct English grammar and composition instructor at Career Colleges of Chicago. I taught classes of adult learners from diverse backgrounds. Since 2009, I have volunteered in libraries both in Urbana, Illinois and here in San Francisco, teaching adults basic computer skills and offering homework help to school-age children.
I look forward to helping you achieve your educational goals.
