I have several years of teaching and tutoring experience; it's something that I've always enjoyed. My specialties are English, math, Spanish, and standardized test preparation (SAT, ACT, PSAT, and HSPT), although I am able to help with a variety of subjects and study techniques. I've helped students from preschool to college with almost every core subject, which has taught me how to adjust my teaching method to how the student learns best. I love when I can help a student reach the point where something "clicks."

A summary of my previous teaching and tutoring experiences:

After graduating college, I spent a summer teaching ESL to adults in Chicago.

I spent a year teaching English and science to elementary school students in Spain. While I was there, I also privately tutored several of my students in those subjects.

I spent two years working in the youth department of a nonprofit in San Diego. While there, I ran the high school tutoring room, as well as taught English, math, science, and social studies to youth ages 17-25. I also tutored a high school senior once a week for a year; I helped her prepare for the ACT and the SAT and helped her with her math coursework.

I spent a year and three months teaching and tutoring English in Colombia and Thailand. My students there were all ages; the youngest ones were four years old and the oldest ones were adults. One of the adults I tutored was a professional working for the United Nations. During this time, I started holding some of my classes online.

I spent a year working at an educational nonprofit in Los Angeles.

I then moved back down to San Diego and began working at the University of San Diego during the day and tutoring during evenings and weekends. I now work for a healthcare company and have continued tutoring evenings and weekends -- working with students is what I enjoy most!
