Hello, my name is Kevin M. With my Bachelors of Arts degree in History, membership to the National Historical Honor Society, and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science, I am a more than qualified tutor. Along with my academic experience, my professional experience speaks to my dedication to being a positive influence in the lives of young people. In 2010, I student taught at Downey High School, where I taught two periods of United States History, and one period of Modern World History, and earned exemplary recommendations from both my Master Teachers, and University Supervisor. Following my Student Teaching experience I have spent the last year as a substitute teacher in the Capistrano, Long Beach, and Huntington Beach Union High School Districts, where I was highly requested by Social Science teachers, as well as other faculty. I also volunteered my time tutoring low income and at risk students in Long Beach. It is my firm belief that to encourage student learning, one incorporate a variety of instructional strategies, such as the use of relevant technology, and hands on activities, that connects the content to students’ everyday lives. By utilizing these strategies I am able to foster an exciting and engaging classroom environment.
