As an undergraduate student, I was a teaching assistant helping students with problem-solving and test preparation. As a graduate student, I held my own recitation where I would design problem sets for the students to work through during each session. I now work as a research associate in pharmaceuticals, and I am looking to tutor because I adore science. I want to invoke the same passion and love for chemistry in others that I already hold. Therefore, as a tutor, I would be dedicated to helping the student actually learn concepts, rather than just memorizing the correct answers. I sincerely believe that a strong foundation of understanding basic math and chemical concepts can prepare anyone for any math or science course.
Furthermore, I now work in a chemistry lab where I solve chemistry related problems each and every day. This makes me highly suited to aid in any general chemistry or organic chemistry based problems. The majority of my background is with synthetic organic chemistry, but I have taken courses in math up to calculus in order to apply math to chemical systems. Also, my degrees allowed me to diversify my studies and include a fair amount of biological concepts, which led to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the interplay between chemistry and biology. Therefore, while my BS and MS are in chemistry, I am qualified to teach a variety of math courses and some biology as I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with Summa Cum Laude and a 3.9 GPA. Also, I graduated from Purdue University obtaining my masters degree with a 3.5 GPA. Before college, I also received a score of 29 on the ACT.
