University of South Florida (biology)
My name is Rachel. I am 21 years old but don't let my young age fool you. I have been a tutor for the past six years. I have spent 4 years in a global tutoring center and two years on my own. I have taught from ages 3-15. I can teach everything from basic reading skills to the harder sciences that we all fear. I am currently a part time student at the University of South Florida so I do have a changing schedule but I try to take all my classes during school hours. I am currently going to finish my bachelor's of biology degree in cellular and molecular biology. I am new to this state though. I am coming back after living in Northern Virginia the past ten years. I have just finished two associates degrees from a community college up north. I have one degree in science with a concentration in biology and the other is a social science degree with a concentration in education. My own tutoring methods vary for each and every child. I work with each student differently. I do assign homework and classwork each session and I do give exams once the lesson is covered as a whole. I base each lesson plan on the state standards and an initial test on the first day to see where each child stands. I take a special interest on how each child performs. I have been able to make projects for assignments and hands on experiments. I am able to adjust for each type of learner. I love to see each child develop the love of learning that they may have lost in the struggle to try to understand hard material. I am all about flexibility with each students schedule and locations. I look forward to being able to help your star rediscover the love of learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played softball for 16 years. I have played every position. I have taught many pitchers on my past teams.
