Hello everyone! My name is Amy and I am a first-year graduate student at Georgetown University, pursuing my PhD in Chemistry. I graduated from Stony Brook University in May 2022, majoring in Chemistry with a double minor in Writing and Health & Wellness.

My expertise lies in teaching chemistry, specifically high school and college-level chemistry. I have been awarded ACS certification for excelling in advanced chemistry coursework and chemistry departmental honors. I am currently a General Chemistry instructor for the lecture and lab components at my university. During my undergraduate years, I was a Head TA for General Chemistry laboratory courses and was a tutor through the campus' tutoring center. As an instructor, I learned to be creative and inviting in the way I teach. I truly enjoy developing a relationship with each student and trying to foster their specific relationship with chemistry.

I am also a qualified tutor to help students improve their written and verbal communication skills. As a Writing & Rhetoric minor, I have taken coursework that has allowed me to sharpen my written and verbal communication skills. These skills have given me the foundational knowledge to help me proofread writing samples, such as cover letters, personal statements, academic essays, and lab reports. I believe that my strong written communication skills translate into my excellent verbal communication skills. My writing background has given me the confidence to speak publicly with confidence.

During my undergraduate studies, I have devoted my time to being a mentor to underclassmen and high school students. I have provided guidance in crafting strong applications for competitive colleges, graduate programs, jobs, and internships. Specifically, I have provided feedback on their personal statements, resumes, and other personal branding materials to help them show themselves off as stellar applicants.

Let's achieve your goals together! I am here to work with you and support you in your academic journey.

Combines subject expertise with great teaching skills

My son had 7 sessions with Amy to help him prepare for the NYS Chemistry Regents test. He is a reluctant student and I was concerned that Amy's high level of knowledge of the subject might be overwhelming, however she is able to break down the material and make it comprehensible. She was able to connect with my son so that their sessions were enjoyable and they covered a lot of material. She provides helpful notes from the sessions and is completely reliable and communicative about progress. I highly recommend Amy and only regret we didn't meet her sooner!

Experienced & patient professional

Amy is really knowledgeable. She has one of the fastest response time I’ve even seen, 1 minute. She asked all the important questions. I’m 10 times more confident about the my personal statement after working with her. I’ll be working with her on more projects. That’s how great she is! She’s experienced and will work with you to achieve your desired results. I would give 10 stars if I could!

Exceptional Tutor

I'm not a very strong writer and was desperately searching for someone to help me edit a very personal letter that I will be submitting with my graduate school applications. I reached out to Amy and she agreed to help me on the same day. In less than a few hours she helped me perfect the letter and turned it into something heartfelt and beautiful that I could not imagine putting together myself. I am so grateful for her assistance and highly recommend her.

Amy is such an amazing chemistry tutor! She is very experienced and knowledgeable. Her lessons are extremely fun, effective, and engaging. I was able to overcome my fear of chemistry. She makes the hard concepts of chemistry, very easy. She was available when I had questions. Because of her, I was able to overcome my fear of chemistry and I ended up passing the class with an A. I cannot recommend her enough. Thank you Amy!!!

Patient and flexible

We are so lucky to find Amy. My son was struggling in Chemistry but did not ask for help until last minute. Amy was so nice to take him at the very last moment to help him review and prepare for exams. Now my son is more confident on his test. Thank you so much!!

Amazing tutor for your career development and interview prep!

Amy is an amazing tutor! She is knowledgeable and patient. We had a lot of calls for interview preparations for every company and role, including going over resumes and behavioral questions. Whenever I asked her a question, she always gave me good feedback and tips. As of right now, I am in the process of having my 2nd and 3rd round of interviews with two different companies. If you are looking for a career development tutor and interview mentor, I would highly recommend her.
