Hello! I'm Clarence and thank you for reviewing my profile! I am a professional math tutor with more than ten years of math tutoring experience. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics (3.42 GPA) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) [3.1 GPA]. As a US Navy Officer specializing in the field of cryptography (a complex math discipline), I graduated with a military certificate in astrodynamics (orbital mechanics), where I completed my studies at the top of my class with a 96 percent average. In addition, I was accepted into Oklahoma State University’s graduate school on a Mathematics Graduate Teaching Assistantship. In that capacity, during a summer program, I tutored and mentored junior high school students in all forms of math up to Calculus. While at Bellevue University, I received an Academic Scholarship for my exemplary performance in mathematics.
My tutoring philosophy involves; first, listening to the parent or you (the student) and determine what type of math problem he or she is encountering. Next, assessing the your current knowledge. Third, working through the problem with you by providing detailed illustrations and necessary theory. I am a big believer in figuring out how to arrive at the final answer, instead of having you (the student) strictly rely on memorizing formulas. Many of my students have achieved immediate success, with one even commenting that she did exceptionally well on her math final exam in college, subsequently fulfilling one of her requirements in attaining her degree!
I look forward to bringing you the joys of mathematics learning and the many different ways to solve many, diverse problems that you may encounter. Whether you’re studying for a course, preparing for a mathematics-related undergraduate or graduate exam, or just tackling that hard problem, I welcome the opportunity to assist all students (via coordination with parents, where pertinent) in learning and working through the process of solving all your math problems!
