I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from the University of Utah, having previously attended Salt Lake Community College as part of my academic path. My studies gave me a strong foundation in critical thinking, mathematical theory, and scientific reasoning. Skills I regularly applied during my time as a tutor.
From 2015 to 2016, I worked with the SLCC TRIO program, tutoring college students in subjects such as Trigonometry, Precalculus, College Algebra, Calculus, and Physics. Most of the students I supported were 18 or older and came from a variety of academic backgrounds. The sessions were held one-on-one and in person, usually on campus, where I tailored my teaching methods to fit each student’s unique learning style, whether visual, verbal, or hands-on.
As a result, many of the students I worked with not only passed their courses but did so with strong grades. Just as importantly, they left our sessions with a deeper understanding of the material and greater confidence in their academic abilities. My approach has always focused on meeting students where they are and helping them build both competence and self-assurance in the subject matter.
