Tutor for Math

I have a BA in mathematics and studio art from Mount Holyoke College and an MFA from the University of Iowa. I have been tutoring for the past 7 years mainly in introductory and college level mathematics. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for 6 years in a drawing, handmade papermaking, and book arts working one on one with students to help them understand each step of the process. I have worked a great deal in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create images and develop designs for my artwork. In the past I have taken Digital Media and Photography which taught skills within the program. I greatly enjoy both math and the studio, working often in the cross between the two.

My studies in mathematics is a focus in the abstract theory and it's application to the art world. Many of my works are based in the manipulation of space. I have taken classes up to Real Analysis and Topology, studying the properties of multiple dimensions.

My artwork focuses on building something that allows for the viewer to understand mathematical concepts, illustrating different aspects of abstract concepts. My goal in the majority of my work is to show the beauty of mathematics and make it more tangible to the audience.
