I, Julie, am an experienced English teacher with a Bachelor's degree in English and French and a Master's degree in English. I have superb grammar, writing, vocabulary, and proofreading and editing skills! I love teaching all subjects within my field. I am passionate about grammar, literature, writing, research, and vocabulary.

I, Julie, am an experienced English teacher with a Bachelor's degree in English and French and a Master's degree in English. I have superb grammar, writing, vocabulary, and proofreading and editing skills! I love teaching all subjects within my field. I am passionate about grammar, literature, writing, research, and vocabulary.

I recently retired from NEISD, where I taught both English and French.I have taught all secondary levels and also taught a college remedial class. In addition, I have done many hours of TAKS and SAT preparation. I can guarantee that I will work diligently with students to achieve their goals.

I have successfully tutored my grandchildren in middle school,a second grade student practicing for STAAR writing, and two kindergarten students learning to read. I am currently tutoring a ninth grader in expository writing, especially helping him to brainstorm, outline, draft, proofread, edit, and redraft.

I have taught French and can tutor in that language. I also speak Spanish fluently and am able to tutor in that language also though I do not have a degree in Spanish.

Although my undergraduate major was English and French, I earned 24 hours in sociology, one of my favorite subjects. My master's degree was in Interdisciplinary Studies, and my three fields were English, Sociology, and Psychology. When I worked on my thesis, which was to show the sociological and psychological ramifications of code-switching, I used my sociology background to develop survey questions and then analyze and apply statistics to my results. After that I had to apply sociological principles to determine if my study was valid and reliable. I have also tutored students working on sociology papers using APA. I have frequently helped students develop a research question and then develop the question into an hypothesis or thesis. I have then helped them use relevant research materials to organize a paper, after which I have aided them in editing and revising the essay and citing their sources, using APA style.

While in North East ISD, I taught a study skills class for sophomores. I have helped numerous students to develop a system that works for them and still achieves results. I suggest they tackle more difficult subjects first and save the ones they enjoy most for last. In addition, I encourage them to use strategies such as reading over the material several times before using mnemonics and other such techniques, stressing learning the material rather than just trying to memorize for a particular task. Those who have taken my advice have been quite successful.

I taught secondary English for thirty-three years. My students were always successful on the TAKS test, and I provided extra tutoring for the test for many hours each year. I taught TAKS writing and and objective skills each year that I taught.

Easygoing, approachable, informative, knowledgable. Have set up a regular schedule to assist son. Will work with school teacher to help son keep up with school work and also get ahead for overall long-term improvement. Happy with the proposed implementation plan.

Wonderfully Calm Teaching Style!

My 11 year old daughter needed help organizing her thoughts and her work for a research paper. I home school my 10 year old daughter, and I was just too overwhelmed to do another paper. Julie has a very calm presence which is perfect my my very intelligent, yet very hyper, daughter. My daughter enjoys working with Julie very much and asks me when Ms. Julie is coming over! And just as important, my daughter is organizing her work on her own and not complaining!

Very good in grammar and writing

My daughter had a tutoring with Ms. Julie this evening. I was anxious at the beginning because I know my daughter takes a lot of encouragement and digging in order for her to get engaged in talking to somebody like a tutor. I felt comfortable that Ms. Julie was very patient. She was stimulating and got my daughter talking and engaged with what they wanted to accomplish. She encourages new words and vocabularies that my daughter can use.

Fun and patient tutor for kids and adults

Our first lesson with Julie was a pleasure. She was very adept at engaging a reluctant and distracted 7 year old boy. Julie intermixed the lesson with fun and facts, and we all learned a lot. We're looking forward to our next lesson.

Very Patient

My son was having a hard time in 9th grade English so I decided that we should get him a tutor to help. I Googled English tutors and WyzAnt Tutoring was the first one I saw. I checked it out and found Ms. Julie. I sent her a email and she answered me back pretty quickly. She has tutored my son several times since then. My son has ADHD and she has been very patient with him even when he can't sit still. She makes sure he understands everything that they are working on and he feels very confident on his papers when they are done. He uses what Ms. Julie has taught him on his other papers that he works on with out her. Ms. Julie has done a wonderful job in helping our son with his English class.

Great English Tutor

Mrs. Julie is a wonderful teacher and person, my daughter is very happy with her help and knowledge. You can contact her anytime by e mail or phone and she answers right away. My daughter sends documents to review and she helps with the explanation and correction. She is a blessing for my daughter to have it as a tutor. Right now it has been a month since Mrs. Julie is helping my daughter. She is more confident at school, she improved her grades very much and her writing and spelling are much better. Besides be an excellent teacher, she is a good motivating person, talks to the student and show them the best way to succeed at school and we appreciate that very much. My daughter is very excited because she got an excellent mark in her English Class this month, Mrs. Julie is helping her any time, when she doesn't meet her in person my daughter contacts her on line, she reviews her essay and helps her to correct her writing and grammar and explains the reason of the corrections.
