Hi! I’m Alejandro (also go by Alex), a data-driven, patient tutor who loves turning confusing math into “oh! That makes sense.” I completed an MPH in Biostatistics & Epidemiology at USC and work as a data analyst in San Antonio, where I apply statistics to real public-sector problems every day. Before that, I taught high school AP Calculus AB and AP Statistics, leading seniors through rigorous coursework and exam prep.

My tutoring style is structured but friendly: we start with a quick diagnostic to find the exact sticking points, then build a targeted plan with bite-sized goals. I teach concept first (why it works), then method (how to do it), and finally reps (confident practice). I use plain-language explanations, visual sketches, and real examples, from simple functions to hypothesis tests, that match what students actually see in class. For test prep (SAT/ACT math or AP), I focus on high-yield topics, timing, and error logging so progress is visible and steady.

I support middle school through college for Algebra I/II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB, AP Statistics, and Intro/College Statistics. Sessions can be online or local, with weekend and evening availability. After each meeting, students (and parents, if applicable) get a brief recap with what we covered, a couple of targeted practice items, and the plan for next time. Message me with your course, upcoming test date, and goals, I’ll reply with a quick game plan and we’ll get you moving forward.

Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I hold an MPH in Biostatistics & Epidemiology from USC and work as a public-sector data analyst in Bexar County. I’ve led real-world analyses on communicable disease surveillance (e.g., Hepatitis C, gastroenteric illnesses) and policy reporting using SAS, SPSS, Stata, and Excel. I tutor biostatistics from undergraduate through graduate levels, including study design, probability, estimation, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, linear/logistic/Poisson regression, survival analysis, and power/sample size. My approach is concept-first and software-second: I translate formulas into plain language and then guide you step-by-step through reproducible workflows so you can complete assignments and projects confidently.
Chemistry

Chemistry

B.S. in Biochemistry. 4+ years tutoring General Chem I/II and Organic Chem I/II; experience supporting AP Chemistry students through unit tests and AP exam prep. Strengths: clear step-by-step explanations, problem-solving strategies, FRQ pacing, and calculator/units accuracy. Students receive targeted practice sets and brief summaries after each lesson so progress is visible.
Epidemiology

Epidemiology

I hold an MPH in Biostatistics & Epidemiology from USC and trained with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. I’ve conducted surveillance and case investigations for Hepatitis C and gastrointestinal illnesses and built analytic reports from REDCap/SAS data used by health leadership. I tutor epidemiology from intro through graduate level—measures of disease (incidence, prevalence), study design (cohort, case-control, RCT), bias/confounding/effect modification, screening, and outbreak investigation. My approach connects concepts to practice with clear causal reasoning, step-by-step computations (RR/OR), and reproducible workflows in Excel, SAS, or SPSS.
