Wyzant’s Hidden Gem for Older Learners
Esther is absolutely wonderful! She’s been tutoring my 83-year-old mom on how to use her iPhone--things like sending and receiving messages, using Maps, asking Siri questions, and recognizing when not to hand her phone to strangers for help in public. Every week, Esther arrives with personalized printouts and patiently reviews the prior lessons and walks mom through each new skill. She’s kind, encouraging, and incredibly patient. She never makes mom feel rushed or overwhelmed, and us kids "forcing" mom to learn her phone has been very overwhelming for her. Esther gives mom homework each week and even checks in throughout the week with her to see how she is faring with her lessons. As a fellow Wyzant tutor myself, I know how much effort it takes to teach with this level of care and clarity. Esther goes above and beyond every single session. She’s been a true gift to our family, and I can’t recommend her enough!

I came to Esther needing to reacquaing myself with Illustrator after almost a decade of not having to use it and never being taught the specifics in the first place. She has enhanced my understanding of its functionalities a great deal, and was clear the entire time (I sometimes feel that people in graphic design don't know how NOT speak in technical jargon - Esther was PERFECT). Thank you for your help thus far, Esther! I look forward to more lessons!

Honest, helpful, responsive and knowledgeable.
She did not know the software I was using, however, from her knowledge she was able to quickly figure out how it works. She also brought to my attention an alternative software program that I may want to consider learning in the future, that many be easier to use. I would like to hire her to learn photoshop in the future, if my family pays for the lessons. I will ask today.
