"Mahan was extremely knowledgeable to work with. We worked on problems related to health economics, a relatively complex economics subject/topic. This included using every nook and cranny of concepts from my introductory economics courses such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, applied game theory, intermediate microeconomics, fundamental concepts in calculus, and statistics rules to observe different scenarios. He would break down very complex topics such as adverse selection, Pareto optimality, social vs marginal efficiencies, and other real-world applications to easy-to-understand bite-sized concepts and we would apply these to problems related to health economics. We would reason and come up with a solution, despite some hurdles. Moreover, he would not just go with teaching but ask me questions to check my understanding. Moreover, we made use of Matlab, Stata, and excel to solve few optimization problems. He showed me how to use a solver, and optimize for multiple or single variables in excel. Also, we covered the basics of linear regressions, which I think now makes a little bit more sense to me. We did not have enough time, but we did look over a research article. Such processes helped me retain many of the concepts. Overall, my time was productive during tutoring session."

" I have had three tutoring sessions with Mahan so far. We went over the basics of how various determinants shift the demand and supply. Mahan helped me identify various economic factors that would shift these curves. He would break down the problem to basic examples, which were easy to understand. Also, he is a great listener and would help me iterate and focus my though process regarding macroeconomics. We would also look at various research papers, and he would help me identify how to approach with those abstract/complex topics. This entails trying to replicate the methodology in the research papers. Also, he is very professional when dealing with academic and career/field questions. I have had difficulty in doing problems using computer programs, but he taught me basics of excel with ease. Overall, we explored topics form microeconomics, macroeconomics, finance, calculus, and statistics, as it pertains to basic supply and demand, profit maximization, monopoly, monopsony, differentiated prices, Bertrand model, and games.This would help me further into solving more problems. We also worked few examples for optimization. Mostly, it included looking at many parameters, and utilizing optimization techniques for one variable optimization. Overall, a good experience. "

Highly effective and patient tutor!

Mahan helped me identify and understand key concepts in the field of engineering economic analysis. We developed a basic understanding of how cash flows in a project work. This required discussing compounding, Effective interest rates (APR, EAR, etc). We also had to discuss different risks in a project, including nominal and real interest rates. was well-versed in the field of macroeconomics. We modeled our cash flows for a project using excel and Stata, and ran some modeling in Matlab. Some of the concepts used Ordinary differential equations, and we used matlab to practice these. I thik I am more confident now in calculating NPV, IRRs in a project, and a better understanding of hurdle rates, etc. Overall, we had a productive tutoring session.

Mahan was well versed in Microeconomic theory. He helped me understand how changes in budget dynamics would allow us to establish market equilibrium. He made it easy to understand the difference between shifts in a different variable and utilize optimization techniques to come p with a price-weighted output for consumers and movement along the curve. Moreover, we utilized excel to do basic calculations, and plot different curves based on policy adjustment. This helped me with seeing trends in how taxing, and per unit rise in cost may affect equilibrium outcomes in the market. Overall, a productive session!

Amazing tutor

I have had two tutoring sessions with Mahan so far, and they are in completely two different subjects. Previously, Mahan and I worked on Macroeconomics theory and understanding of indifference curves, and maximization. This session was on physics understanding the workings of uniform circular motion, and other relevant concepts such as centripetal force, tangential velocity, and net forces. He explains these complex topics with simple analogies and discussions, which help with easy comprehension. Overall, great interaction and productive session!

Mahan was extremely helpful in understanding the concepts in macroeconomics, and overall macroeconomic theory. He broke down the hard concepts such as indifference curves, Pareto efficiency, supply shocks, inflation, etc. I had a hard time understanding the dynamics behind the yield curve, and how it affected other factors such as stock prices, output, and exchange rates. He takes a complex-concepts, breaks them down to simple fundamentals, and builds up from there. He gives lots of examples, checks to understand as we go, and refer to different materials, to optimize learning. He is also proactive in scheduling sessions and communicating tutoring logistics. Overall, a productive experience.

Mahan was very knowledgeable to work with. He had an extensive and well-articulated methodology in both financial and managerial accounting. Concepts such as straight-line depreciation, and yield maturity were some of the few concepts that were discussed during the session. He gave easy-to-understand and relevant examples to help me understand these topics. Overall, a good experience, and a great tutor.

GREATEST TEACHER EVER

Mahan was a great teacher that I have recommended to all of my friends that study economics too. He taught me the basic convepsy broke them down for me and we went through the homework together. I aim to see him every 3 days where he can continue to teach me and show me how to do different things using stata for econometrics.
