I obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in math education along with my teaching certification from Emory & Henry College in 2009. I immediately began teaching high school math. I then completed my Master of Education (MEd) graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from King University in 2012. I hold an active teaching license in the state of Tennessee. During my teaching journey I have completed other certifications such as College Board Advanced Placement training and more.
I have experience as a public high school mathematics and statistics teacher for 16 years. I have taught the following courses: Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics, TN Statewide Dual Credit Statistics, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Statistics. I primarily teach students face to face in a traditional classroom setting, while also incorporating hands-on learning and online tools. I also previously taught 2 years at a community college in a remedial math and statistics tutoring setting.
In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have also been a private tutor. At my high school, I have tutored high school students in small groups of 1-5 students after school in Algebra II and all levels of Statistics for all 16 years of my teaching. I have also privately tutored rising high school students to prepare for Algebra I. And, I have tutored college students in introductory Statistics courses in a one on one setting.
