Hi, I'm Brooke! I recently graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a concentration in Chemical Education, and I'm looking to have some students to teach during my gap year before returning to grad school to become a professor! As a part of UAB's ChemScholars program, I spent three years as a TA for general chemistry I & II and organic chemistry I & II recitation and lab, so I'm comfortable performing lectures and grading homework with detailed notes. In those three years, I also acted as a tutor at an open tutoring help desk, where students could come after class for assistance with homework and learning subjects one-on-one.
As a tutor, I am very patient and understanding of the students' situation. I enjoy explaining complex topics in simple chunks so that students can comprehend the subject better, and I have a lot of experience helping students work through difficult homework problems themselves. I especially have a lot of experience working with students who really struggle with chemistry, whether it be due to the math or the memorization. I know it's a hard subject, and I understand if you hate it, but I want my students to at least enjoy being good at the chemistry once everything clicks.
It makes me really happy to share my love for chemistry with others, so I hope to open up a new appreciation for chemistry and the little things that make up our world through my teachings!
