For five years I tutored professionally for Boston's Metro West Area's most elite tutoring agency. I was named Tutor of the Month after fewer than three months with the agency, and I have become a preferred tutor for ACT and SAT preparation, essay writing/editing, and middle and high school math subjects. I have been tutoring math up to Calculus for 8 years, including my three years of volunteer tutoring in high school and college. Although I took one math class in college, my performance in math in high school, including my AP Calculus grade and exam score, has qualified me to tutor middle and high school math subjects. After my course in ACT preparation students often see composite score increases of 3-4 points. I have similar success tutoring the SAT: students can typically expect to see 200-350 point increases in their composite scores. My unique approach to these tests helps students triage questions, skim read, and learn strategies to bypass difficult math figuring on the ACT and SAT math tests. My education and concentration in English language writing while at Hamilton College has made me an elite and awarded writer and editor. As my 9-5 job -- or rather, 7-3:30 :) -- I work in nuclear energy for the Quality Department, assuring the quality of the parts we manufacture through destructive and non-destructive testing.
