I'm Danna! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in English, French, and Secondary Education. Since graduating, I have been a full-time teacher for 17 years with both English and French classrooms. Having worked primarily with middle school students, I know how to break concepts down into manageable steps and how to keep even the driest of concepts enjoyable and engaging. My approach consists of getting to know a learner—where he/she/they are at and building lessons from the abilities present. I use both traditional instruction and practical activities to introduce, reinforce, and provide mastery of skills, remembering to continuously meet learners where they are and to work with their missteps as opportunities for gentle growth.
I have tutored students one-on-one and in small groups of 4-8 throughout my career. The nature of these tutoring sessions has ranged from guiding reading and comprehension of text in both English and French, improving writing abilities, unpacking grammar concepts, and practicing French conversational skills. As a language tutor, I focus on helping learners to confidently communicate in all four domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
I love watching learners advance in their abilities and find a once-challenging concept a breeze. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
