Math & writing may not seem to go together, but I have a passion for both and a desire to help those struggling in these areas.

I’m a certified 7-12th grade math teacher who found her niche later in life. I wasn't a naturally gifted math student, but during college, things "clicked." A few years later, I scored in the top 10% on the Praxis exam for secondary math certification. Now, as an instructional coach, I help other teachers improve their practices.

Math phobia and trauma are real. Traditional instruction can make math understanding seem out of reach and only possible for some people. That’s not true! My focus is on the process, not the answers. In my 20 years of experience, I've acquired a variety of methods and strategies for teaching math concepts to students of varying ages and different backgrounds. You don't need to dread or be frustrated by math. I can help you overcome the struggle and become a more confident thinker and learner!

I’m familiar with the demands placed on students by state tests and college entrance exams and am prepared with materials and strategies for success. I'm ready to help you develop a plan, review essential skills, and feel prepared going into test day.

Communicating clearly and concisely is a valuable skill, one I enjoy putting to use. I have created and/or edited documents for personal, professional, and academic purposes for a variety of topics and audiences. I've been complimented for my wordsmithing, and have become the "go-to" person for colleagues and friends who need help crafting messages.

I am willing to complete online sessions or travel locally to meet students in their home or at a neutral location. I am open to various mediums of continual support through technology, with mutually agreed upon conditions. I am flexible in the hours I am available, but do require 24 hours notice if cancellation or rescheduling is necessary.

I engaged Sarah to offer tutoring to my daughter, who was taking Honors Geometry over the summer. Sarah, immediately provided a calm and patient approach, which allowed my daughter's nervously over the content to diminish. My daughter had been struggling throughout her ninth grade math class. It wasn't until the last quarter of the year that we found Sarah. Sarah was very patient and helped my daughter build her confidence in the math. Sarah really cared about helping my daughter understand the material and even provided alternate approaches to make her understand. I just wish we had found Sarah sooner in the school year, however, we're planning to continue with Sarah this summer to get an early jump on 10th grade. I highly recommend Sarah to not only help your child learn the material but to boost confidence in math (which is of equal importance).
