I'm a current sophomore (1st Year) mechanical engineering major at Lane Community College and the University of Oregon. Having recently graduated from high school, I know what it's like to be in high school classes and taking standardized tests such as the SAT. I scored a 770 on my math section SAT, and 5's on both the AP calculus AB and BC exams, as well as taking multi-variable calculus my senior year. I also have 3 years of tutoring experience. I've tutored many different kinds of students, in everything from 6th grade math to sophomore geometry.
I know it can be frustrating for many students when they don't understand things right away, causing them to dislike a subject completely. I've found that subjects are usually more fun when you understand what you're doing. That's my goal with the students I work with, to get them to the point where they understand it well enough not just to pass their tests, but actually enjoy learning. Having recently graduated from a public high school myself, I understand how it feels to struggle with something, but also what it takes to succeed, especially when a crowded classroom setting makes it harder to learn effectively.
3 years experience as a math tutor from pre-algebra to trigonometry. Very solid knowledge of algebra, as I am a current student taking Multivariable Calculus. Excellent understanding of SAT test structure and questions.
