Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Learn how understanding the fundamentals of algebra will help you figure out practical problems in everyday life via setting up and solving equations and inequalities. Did you get the right change back at the video store? Did you get your fair share of pizza given the amount of money you contributed? Is that mail offer really a good deal? How long will it take me to earn the money to buy my favorite music CD? Additionally, learn how to graph equations & how to interpret those graphs.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

In Algebra II we learn all sorts of ways to solve for... 'X', and X can be anything. The key is to learn how to translate English into mathematical equations that can be solved. In this course you learn many ways to solve for X, and how useful that skill is the real life. With degrees in Math and Applied Statistics, along with 20 years experience at P&G, I have had plenty of experience solving problems using Math and/or statistics.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I worked as a biostatistician in the pharmaceutical division of a company for over 13 years. I provided statistical input to the research scientists including determination of an appropriate study design and sample size, analysis of data to determine dose response information, ED50's, IC50's, and all other information needed to submit an IND to the FDA. I have a Master's Degree in Applied Statistics and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

An introduction to numbers and the number system, including how to work with them (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, divide). Basic concepts (e.g. factions, percents), and definition of basic symbols (< > =). Additionally, how it translates back to 'English'.
General Music

General Music

I played the clarinet in band since 5th grade, and was the first chair during most of my time in high school band. I took 4 years of piano lessons from 3rd-6th grade & have continued to play regularly ever since. I've been singing in various choirs since I had access to them, which was elementary school. In 3rd grade I had a solo to sing in our spring musical. I also participated in the show choir in H.S., and current sing in a contemporary music group for one of the Masses at my parish. Lastly, I sang with a local barbershop choir & we participated in the World Choir Games that were held in Cincinnati that year, great fun!
Geometry

Geometry

Learn about how knowing the specifics of various geometrical shapes (i.e. triangles, circles, and squares), can be helpful in everyday life. For example: 'How to hang a picture straight the first time', and "How tall of a ladder do I need to buy to make a repair to my roof'. Save yourself time and money!
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra gives you the tools to solve systems of linear equations. These tools require the knowledge of matrices and their arithmetic properties. Determinants, vector spaces, and linear transformations are also introduced, along with applications in problems of approximation. I took a semester class in Linear Algebra in college and received an A. I've continue to use the methods in many of my graduate statistics courses, receiving As in those classes as well.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Builds on your knowledge of solving equations, gives you the tools to solve more complex equations, and learning how to set up equations from words (the dreaded story problem).
Statistics

Statistics

I graduated from Ohio State in four quarters with a 3.91 GPA. I worked in pharmaceutical and consumer products industries, where I often needed to be able to 'teach' statistical concepts to my co-workers.

Terrific Tutor!

Marla taught me in 1 hour what I have been struggling to understand for the past 3 weeks in my graduate statistics course. She was able to provide real life experiences to the material we covered in a way that helped me learn. She was very patient, never made me feel embarrassed for asking a question, and was able to identify my learning style very quickly. Instead of simply reviewing the content and telling me the correct answer, she actually taught me the information and shared tips with me that helped me to interpret and understand the material. As an educator myself, I greatly appreciated this approach and highly recommend Marla for anyone in need of a math/statistics tutor.

Very kind and patient

Marla has been helping my daughter with Precalculus, which she was struggling. Marla is extremely kind and patient. She is very caring and always sends my daughter encouraging, supportive messages to help her with her confidence. She is also more than willing to review the material ahead of the tutoring session, so that she can come prepared and get a better understanding of the material prior to the lesson. I also sincerely appreciate her flexibility with scheduling!

Great Tutor

Marla, was on time and well prepared. Prior to the lesson, she asked me what i exactly wanted help with and she came well prepared for the session. We went through multiple regression model questions and standard distribution. She was very patient and showed me an easier way of working with multiple regression models. Thank you Marla!!

She caught on to what I needed quickly

I am an adult in school for my B.S.N. Marla has been tutoring me for my statistic online class and has been good at helping to identify what I am missing from the assignments and how to look at problems differently. She was able to follow the assignments very quickly and we spent the time very efficiently in addressing my questions.
