Ear Training

Ear Training

I began my detailed ear training in high school, when I took AP Music Theory. I ended the class with a 4 on the AP Exam and a sub-score of 4 on the aural skills (ear training) portion, as well as my school's award for Outstanding Music Theory Student. Now, I have studied ear training in CCM's aural skills program, "musicianship," for three semesters, receiving all A's. I have been recommended to apply to graduate schools as a music theory/ear training graduate assistant.
French Horn

French Horn

I currently hold positions as 2nd horn of the Detroit Opera (tenure track), 2nd horn of the Evansville Philharmonic (tenured), and Principal horn of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. I have also won multiple solo competitions, including the Winstead Competition for Artistry in Wind Playing and the International Horn Competition of America (IHCA). I hold a Master's Degree (M.M.) in Performance from University of Cincinnati CCM as well as a B.M. in Performance from CCM. I also have 6 years of private teaching experience, and my students have been accepted into honor bands including the Northern Kentucky Select Bands and Kentucky All-State Bands. I am a passionate, supportive teacher who will work with you/your student to reach your full potential!!
General Music

General Music

Since I am currently pursuing my degree in horn performance at CCM, I spend most of my days in music classrooms. Not only do I have to take classes relating specifically to my instrument or family of instruments, such as studio class, horn repertoire class, and brass orchestral repertoire class, but I also must take classes such as musicianship (CCM's version of aural skills), theory, and history. I must retain a 3.6 GPA to keep my full-ride scholarship, so my grades in each of these courses and understanding of subject matter is well above proficient. My idea of "general music" is that it is essentially composed of all these topics at a basic level.
Music History

Music History

I have my bachelor of music degree in performance from CCM. I was required to take 4 semesters of music history and thoroughly enjoy music history as I continue to learn more.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

I began my sight-singing training in high school, when I took AP Music Theory. I ended the class with a 4 on the AP Exam and a sub-score of 4 on the aural skills (which includes sight-singing) portion, as well as my school's award for Outstanding Music Theory Student. Now, I have studied sight singing in CCM's aural skills program, "musicianship," for three semesters, receiving all A's. I have been recommended to apply to graduate schools as a music theory/ear training (including sight-singing) graduate assistant.
Trumpet

Trumpet

While nearly all of my performance experience is on horn, I have some experience with both classical and jazz trumpet, and teaching experience for all brass instruments as a band instructor at Beechwood High School. I play horn at a very high level at one of the nation's top conservatories, CCM, studying with such greats as Tom Sherwood of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Randy Gardner of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Denise Tryon of the Philadelphia Orchestra. I also have six years of experience playing mellophone, which, while in a different key from Bb trumpet, uses an identical fingering system. I am qualified to teach general music skills, as well as skills pertaining specifically to brass instruments. I can assist trumpet players with embouchure issues, air efficiency, musical ideas, and instrument care/repair.

Just amazing!

My son loves her. I think she is amazing. I can hear him getting better every week. We are lucky to have her as my son's tutor. She gives him things to work on, not just the lesson. She is detailed in what she teaches.
