Do you find yourself freezing up every time you have to study for a test or write a paper and realize that although you’ve done it hundreds of times, you’ve forgotten how and have to reinvent the entire process?

Is your student running out of time to write their college application essays?

Do you watch your child hyperfocus on taking painstaking notes, copying from the textbook for hours, only to fail the test?

Are you exhausted by working so, so hard at things that others seem to handle as easily as breathing?

I want to help you with the overwhelm.

I teach people how to understand their ADHD, advocate for themselves, and learn not just the “how” skills but the “why”. ADHD isn’t a “can’t sit still” brain; it’s a “can’t figure out what is important” brain. It’s a “need just a little extra stimulation” brain, not “bored if it’s not fun” brain.

When you work with me as a college student, I’ll teach you how to adapt the academic skills you were taught in high school to actually work with the brain you have. I’ll help you determine what accommodations you should request from your school. I’ll show you how to understand process building, so you can have a reference when it’s time to start a project.

When you work with me as a child, I’ll pay attention to how your behavior mirrors your brain’s current needs. We’ll talk about what planning for success looks like. We’ll learn to think about what “most important” means. We’ll figure out what rewards feel the best for different kinds of accomplishments.

ADHD

ADHD

My experience has always been that study skills as taught in schools are useless, because they work for students whose brains work the same way as the people teaching them. I've been diagnosed with ADHD 3 times: at age 6, partway through college, and again as an adult. I've made it a priority to keep up with current research on the subject of ADHD, because it was not well understood when I was a child. Thus, my determination to succeed led me to intensively cultivate study strategies and coping skills, even as a high schooler, that weren't just "summarize material in your own words" or "make these facts into a song". Instead, I have learned many ways to work with the brain that I have, and my natural empathy and skill with kids allows me to tease out an understanding of the brain of my student so that we can work together to help them succeed. Combining my educational background in teaching with my respect for the lived experience of the child, my own experience as a frustrated student with a misunderstood learning disability translates into a terrific opportunity to help students learn to manage their time and succeed in school as I did. I love helping people to succeed academically, and seeing a student shift from anxious to hopeful to confident in a difficult subject is a joy and satisfaction that drives me.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I tutor Algebra 1 for middle school, high school, and college freshmen. My approach combines homework support with building conceptual understanding, so students learn not just how to solve problems but why the math works. I emphasize visual explanations, targeted drills, and mastery practice to create a strong foundation for future math courses. My methods are especially effective for ADHD learners, as I break the material into clear, manageable steps that reduce overwhelm and build confidence.
English

English

Reading was my passion as a child, but the discovery of critical analysis and close reading in high school was mindblowing. I want to share with others the delight of tracking patterns and clues through a novel, the specific challenges of poetry, and why literature speaks to our souls. I pursued graduate studies in teaching literature specifically so that I could bring the satisfaction of this study to others.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I’ve taught essay writing to students from elementary school through graduate programs, in everything from book reports and AP history DBQs to literary analysis and graduate-level research papers. I specialize in breaking down the writing process into clear, manageable steps that make sense for ADHD and other neurodivergent brains; This approach allows me to adapt and differentiate my teaching to meet the needs of every age group, so an 8-year-old and a graduate student each get the style of instruction that truly supports them. Instead of writing being a last-minute scramble, the way I teach writing front-loads the work in a way that makes drafting smoother and less overwhelming.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

I work with students from kindergarten through adulthood to build executive functioning skills that actually feel doable in their everyday lives. My experience includes supporting learners with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and other neurodiverse or mental health needs. I focus on organization, planning, habit chaining, self-advocacy, accommodations access, and weaving tasks into daily routines in ways that stick. My background includes teaching social-emotional learning in a co-taught general and special education kindergarten classroom, and I continue that work with older students and adults. My approach is compassionate and research-based: I tailor strategies to each person, and I help dismantle shame around executive functioning so students can feel capable and confident.
Fiction Writing

Fiction Writing

Do you have a student who loves stories but struggles to turn their ideas into a beginning, middle, and end? Are you a writer yourself who gets stuck halfway through a project, unsure how to keep the momentum going? I’ve worked with children and peer writers on everything from short creative assignments to early novel-length projects. My specialty is breaking down story beats and teaching narrative structure in a way that makes the “bones” of storytelling clear and approachable, without losing the joy of discovering the story. I adapt my methods to each writer’s age and goals, making fiction writing both fun and achievable, while also giving writers practical tools to finish what they start.
Homeschool

Homeschool

I hold a Master’s in Teaching with a strong background in both English and math, and I bring that expertise to my work with homeschooling families. Alongside homeschooling my own children, I’ve studied a wide range of curricula and teaching styles, and I can help families weigh the benefits and drawbacks of different approaches. My role is to support both children and parents: for students, I provide individualized, interest-based instruction that keeps learning engaging; for parents, I make homeschooling more straightforward by helping with curriculum planning, documentation, and ensuring state requirements are met. My goal is to make homeschooling both effective and sustainable for the whole family.
Literature

Literature

Reading was my passion as a child, but the discovery of critical analysis and close reading in high school was mindblowing. I want to share with others the delight of tracking patterns and clues through a novel, the specific challenges of poetry, and why literature speaks to our souls. I pursued graduate studies in teaching literature specifically so that I could bring the satisfaction of this study to others.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

Do you feel stuck trying to tell your story without sounding like every other applicant? Does your student have great experiences but struggle to connect them to what a school or program is actually looking for? I’ve worked with transfer students, scholarship and study abroad applicants, and job seekers writing cover letters. My specialty is guiding students through brainstorming and shaping their story so it highlights not just who they are, but how they’ll contribute to a program or workplace. Unlike one-size-fits-all essay advice, I emphasize tailoring every statement to the specific institution or role, so that the personal statement is authentic, polished, and connects the student’s skills, experiences, and goals to the mission and values of their desired program..
Study Skills

Study Skills

Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

Do you feel overwhelmed by the scale of your thesis and unsure how to balance it with the rest of your life? Are you staring at months of research and writing, but can’t figure out how to turn it into a workable plan? I work with college and graduate students to break down large projects into manageable steps that actually fit into their schedules. My focus is on teaching students how to plan and pace the process so it feels achievable, not impossible. This approach is especially effective for neurodivergent learners, but benefits anyone who struggles with overwhelm and procrastination on long-term projects.
Writing

Writing

The most important part of writing is getting started; once we get started, the trick is to know what small step to do next. I've been writing papers since I was 5, wrote 20-40 page papers weekly in college, and now have two novels in progress. I've combined my educational background in teaching with my respect for the lived experience of the child and my own experience as a frustrated student with a misunderstood learning disability, creating a terrific opportunity to help students learn to write beautifully and concisely as I did. I love helping people to succeed academically, and seeing a student shift from anxious to hopeful to confident in a subject as tricky as writing is a joy and satisfaction that drives me.

I highly recommend Isis!! Not only has she guided me in how to read, comprehend and retain the information but has also guided me in how to read questions, understand how to comprehend what the question is asking and how to determine the answer. Every day I work with her the more confident I am in my new studying habits, creating notes, comprehending and to understand what the questionis asking. ADHD - Reading and Compression

I highly recommend Isis if you struggle in  reading comprehension and retaining the information. Throughout school, I had a very hard time studying for tests and exams. My reading comprehension and writing skills was probably at 4 or 5th grade level.  All through middle and high school I struggled with subjects and barley passed my classes. Actually, I failed American History and Government. I have been able to hide my downfall and make it through life. Here I am 48 years old and back to studying to full fill one of my career goals, to get a certification. I tried for several years to accomplish my goal and failed. I finally broke down and said "I need help".  That's when I found Wzyant and decided to put out there my struggles and ask for help. Isis saw my profile and immediately reach

Knowledgeable and patient.

Took the time to listen to my struggles in education and Knowledgeable on guiding me to try new ways on studying. Tried three of her suggestions tonight and excited to see if I remember what I studied tomorrow.
