Hi! My name is Noah, and I've wanted to help people build their confidence and math skills for years. Hi! My name is Noah, and I've wanted to help people build their confidence and math skills for years. I firmly believe that the reason many people struggle with math is not because of their own failures, but rather a fault of teachers that do not have the time to explain concepts in a way that every student understands. I naturally excelled in math as a child, and my curiosity in the subject has allowed me to better understand the difficulties of other students who couldn't seem to grasp important concepts. My goal is to find a way to present material that will give my students that "ah-ha!" moment, as they finally realize that *they* can do math.
I intend to provide an affordable option for anyone who needs a little extra work to understand concepts or prepare for tests. While I do not have formal classroom experience, I have done private one-on-one tutoring with friends and family for at least 4 years, and I have 8 years of volunteer experience working around high school and junior high students as part of an outreach program. I'm looking forward to expanding my portfolio to include more formal tutoring through Wyzant. I have complete confidence that anyone can learn math, and in fact, it is an easy subject when taught well.
I've recently finished my Bachelor's in Theology and Ministry at SUM Bible College in California. I can commute to areas near my location in New Mexico, or teach fully online through a video call. I'm most familiar teaching math topics up to Pre-Calculus, including Algebra and Geometry. I work best when the student already has classwork, such as homework or a previous test, that we can go through and discuss. I want to help them understand the lessons as they are given, so they can have the tools to interpret future chapters on their own. I look forward to working with you!
