Hello! I'm Cable and I've been making movies, animation, graphic design and teaching all of that for over 20 years. I'm happy to be able to share what I've learned with students whether they're interested in working on a specific project, improving projects for their portfolios, or just trying it out. Hello! I'm Cable and I've been making movies, animation, graphic design and teaching all of that for over 20 years. I'm happy to be able to share what I've learned with students whether they're interested in working on a specific project, improving projects for their portfolios, or just trying it out. I've had students from 8 years old to 80 years old! My favorite specialties are 2D animation, stop-motion, and compositing. I also love to edit video and audio and working in graphic design. The Adobe Creative Suite is my main digital toolset, but basic drawing skills help a lot (But don't worry, if you can write your name you can draw, and it's true).

Art and design is always changing and so are the tools we use to make them. The principles and reasons don't change that much - just the way we make them and apply them. There's never been a better time to get into art, video, and graphic design, as a student or professional, or just for personal growth and fun.

Animate is a great way to learn 2D animation since most of us with the Adobe suite have it already. Formerly known as "Flash", Adobe Animate uses vector graphics to create efficient animations, either with lots of time-saving shortcuts OR with a more frame-by-frame approach that can emulate traditional drawn animation. Animate's format is also great to use with other Adobe tools like After Effects and Premiere because of a streamlined integration features. One of my go-to animation tools - and a great one to learn on.

Clients include National Geographic Digital, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, Kansas City Royals, UCLA, and many pother academic institutions and agencies. I have also developed animation curriculum for university programs in the midwest and east coast. My independent animations have been screened all over the world at film and animation festivals. I earned my MFA in film production from Ohio University and learned on traditional 16mm film in addition to video workflow. Since then, I had a career on set of many film and tv productions, based out of North Carolina and Washington DC. I also have taught classes in film studies and film production at the university level. I also have specialized in special makeup fx for tv and movies!
Graphic Design

I have designed curriculum for graphic design programs and taught a wide range of courses including Computer Design Basics, Graphic Design, and Portfolio Design. Special courses include brand identity and design research. I also work with companies to develop content for social media, web, and print. Adobe software such as Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop are the primary digital tools in addition to art and design principles and our ability to justify the decisions we make as a designer.

Since graduating from film school, the transition to video was an easy one. From working with hi-resolution cameras to the phones in our pockets, the range of working with video is more and more accessible. I specialize in editing video and audio in Premiere, After Effects, and Audition. Video work is targeted for social media and editing animation and motion graphics.
