Hello! My Name is Amanda and I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics. Hello! My Name is Amanda and I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics. Math has always been my favorite subject because of the problem solving aspect of it which uses what you know to find out something new. My specialty is being able to explain things in a way that prioritizes understanding and building upon previous knowledge instead of just memorization. In addition to my math understanding, as an engineer, I recognize the career applications of having a strong problem solving foundation that allows one to succeed beyond school.
I have 4 years of experience from working as a tutor at the Math and Physics Resource Center at my undergrad college. Through my time there I worked with college students across all majors and skill levels. I worked with students primarily 1 on 1 both in person and online through drop in tutoring and private appointments. In addition I lead review sessions with up to 15 students to do pre-exam reviews. In total I have worked with over 100 college students to help them succeed in their courses such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I am currently in the process of getting a teaching certification in secondary mathematics with the goal of teaching High School Math in a classroom of my own.
My goal is to help students from Middle School to College in math by sharing my knowledge and learning what teaching methods work best for them to help them succeed now and prepare them for future success. I am always welcome to feedback on how I can improve and look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to reach out and I will get back to you as soon as possible!
