Hi there!!
My name is Emily, and I am a dedicated writer, recent high school graduate, and passionate tutor ready to help you feel confident in your words!

In the fall, I will be pursuing a degree in social work and a minor in professional writing at Wayne State University. Throughout my academic journey, I've consistently excelled in Advanced Placement English courses, developing strong skills in analysis and various forms of writing. During my senior year, I was part of Writing Den, where I worked one-on-one with other high school students (ages 14-18) to proofread and improve their essays.

Writing has always been more than just a skill to me, it's a passion. Whether it's bringing a personal story to life, crafting informative research essays, or inspiring other writers, I love using words to connect with people.

My approach is flexible and student-centered: I focus on meeting writers where they’re at, whether they need help brainstorming, organizing, or polishing their final draft. I know writing isn’t everyone’s favorite thing—but I really believe it doesn’t have to be painful. With a little guidance, it can actually be some kind of fun (I promise!).

Creative Writing

My love for writing has extended beyond the classroom. As an avid writer, I have written countless personal pieces in various forms, such as short stories, personal narratives, books, poems, and so much more! I've explored various themes and genres, along with different narrative techniques. I also have experience in writing with purpose --whether for creative writing competitions, blogs, or fictional projects.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a strong foundation in rhetorical analysis, argumentative, and synthesis writing through my success in Advanced Placement (AP) English courses. Additionally, I have experience through various workshops focusing on research, essay structure, narrative writing, and essay techniques. During my senior year of high school, I was a member of writing den, where I assisted other writers in revising their essays. As an incoming English minor in college, I’m committed to furthering my expertise in language and composition.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

Through my previous experience as an AP English Language & Composition student, I developed a deep understanding on how-to craft a strong, defensible thesis statement that guides the structure of your essay! Writing den also provided me with the opportunity to analyze a variety of different thesis statements and arguments from students of various ages. Last summer, I had the opportunity to lead a workshop based on forming a thesis and I also have several pieces of personal work that center around thesis statements.
