Bio

I have been involved in tutoring for six years now, and I've worked in a variety of formats when it comes to interacting with students. I spent several years working in a tutoring center at a community college, working with students in small groups, as well as a one-on-one format. I also have experience in working in an online format, both over a medium such as Skype, but also using programs designed specifically for tutoring. It was this experience that made me realize that I enjoyed working with individuals on a subject matter I am passionate about. Being able to interact with individuals and small groups, as opposed to a classroom, greatly appeals to me as I can focus solely on one person's learning experience.

I pride myself on being able to use a variety of explanations on most subjects, so even if a student isn't quite grasping a topic explained one way, hopefully an alternative will make things easier for them to understand. I also understand that sometimes information presented in a dry manner, such as a book format, can be difficult for students to grasp, and I believe that over the years I've developed ways of breaking down what might seem like complicated subject material into easier ideas.

I've worked with a large range of math subjects, ranging from basic elementary arithmetic with students as young as six or seven, to more in-depth topics such as statistics, calculus, and anything in between.

I hope that you consider working alongside me in your attempts to better understand whatever math it is that you are working on. Know that you are my one and only priority while in a lesson, and that I'll put in the work to help you in any way that I can. Thank you.

ACT Math

ACT Math

Having worked extensively with students preparing to take the ACT, I understand that it can be a time of tremendous anxiety. With this in mind, I strive to create a low-stress environment that allows the student to learn the material, as well as the general philosophy behind the way questions are phrased, as this can help tremendously with the multiple-choice format. When the student is ready, we also work on the speed at which we are able to answer questions to better prepare for test scenarios.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have worked with many students in all aspects of algebra, both interacting with them online and in person. I have experience in approaching the subject material in a simple and effective instruction style, as well as multiple approaches to problems to help the student identify which method works best for them.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have worked with many students in all aspects of algebra, both interacting with them online and in person. I have experience in approaching the subject material in a simple and effective instruction style, as well as multiple approaches to problems to help the student identify which method works best for them.
Calculus

Calculus

I have worked with students at both the high school and collegiate levels with their calculus material, especially in an online setting. As calculus can be a step above any math course previously taken for many students, I strive to foster a low-stress environment of understanding. In addition, I generally attempt to approach things similarly to how they are covered in the individual student's course so as to simplify the transition from tutoring to testing.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I've worked with many young children, ages 6+, in online tutoring formats. I pride myself in being able to patiently instruct younger children, as well as help explain things in a simple, yet effective way. I am familiar with most instruction techniques used in the classroom so that the student can be taught in the way their classroom teacher intends.
GED

GED

I've worked with many students on all of the material that is covered in the GED in the past, and should be able to assist in whatever fashion is needed. I specialize in math, but the science, English, and other sections of the exam are also areas I'm comfortable in aiding the student with. I understand that many times older students are taking the GED, but I've helped individuals of all ages succeed in their material. I also have the tools and experience needed to cover these topics in an online format as well.
Geometry

Geometry

I've worked with many students in the area of geometry over the last several years, including both high school and college students. I'm familiar with the techniques and strategies used in most classroom settings, as it is my goal to provide a learning experience that will help the student understand the material in class, as well as out of the classroom. I utilize online learning to help my students, and have the appropriate tools to provide a clear and efficient lesson to those I work with, as well as the patience needed to keep students from getting frustrated.
GRE

GRE

I've worked with students attempting to succeed on their GRE in the past, and am comfortable with all of the material covered on the exam itself. While I primarily work with math students, I can aid in both the Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning sections of the exam, as well as the Analytical Writing portion. I'm familiar with the format many of the questions are asked in, seeing as they're generally structured a bit differently than other tests, and can guide students through the proper approach to them. I work with students online, and have the tools to help them get clear and efficient instruction, as well as the patience to help them succeed.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I've worked with many students in the area of prealgebra, including younger students still in middle and high school, as well as older individuals who are looking to refresh their math skills. I have several years of experience working in online formats, and pride myself on being able to explain things in an effective but simple manner. I am familiar with most classroom methods so that the student can receive instruction similar to what their schoolroom teacher would provide.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have worked with students, both those new into high school / college, as well as older students who are coming back to material after a long while, in both online and in-person formats. I am familiar with all of the precalculus subject material, as well as the teaching methods employed in the classroom setting. I pride myself on explaining the lessons in a simple manner so that the student can grasp the content easily.
SAT Math

SAT Math

Having worked extensively with students preparing to take the SAT, I understand that it can be a time of tremendous anxiety.
