Hi I'm Isabel! I’m currently wrapping up my first year at the University of Michigan Medical School, and I’d love to help you craft a compelling and authentic medical school personal statement or secondary essay. I was accepted to four medical schools on my first attempt, and my personal statement was consistently highlighted as a strong part of my application.
I hold a B.S. in Microbiology & Immunology and a B.A. in Spanish for the Professions from the University of Nevada, Reno. My background gives me a strong foundation in both science and communication, which I bring to every tutoring session.
Before med school, I spent 3.5 years as a writing tutor at my undergraduate institution’s Writing Center, helping students across disciplines refine their voice, structure their arguments, and build confidence in their writing. I’ve also worked as a freelance blog writer and love guiding others through the writing process—whether you're brainstorming or polishing a final draft.
I offer both asynchronous feedback and live video sessions, depending on your needs. While I’m currently finishing my M1 year, I have some flexibility now and significantly more availability in the coming months.
My tutoring style is supportive, nonjudgmental, and tailored to each student’s goals. I’m here to help you tell your story clearly and persuasively—without losing your voice in the process.
And where I can’t help directly, I’m happy to connect you with one of my many accomplished and thoughtful classmates. Whether you're looking for advice on the writing process, navigating med school admissions, or understanding life in med school, I can help get you in touch with the right person.
In my free time, I love to read, dance, hike, and watch reality TV (ask me about my favorite shows!).
If you're ready to make your application stand out—or just need a second set of eyes—I’d be excited to work with you.
