I hold a bachelor's degree in Secondary Math Education from Asbury University, where I was honored with the Outstanding Senior in Mathematics Award (2021–2022), the Adelle A. Wood Secondary Math Teaching Award (2020–2021), and was on the Dean’s List from 2018 to 2022. I’m a Google Certified Educator with a Kentucky teaching license and have nearly 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring math and Chinese—as a private tutor, college tutor, full-time high school teacher, and graduate student instructor. At Lexington Christian Academy, I taught Algebra and Statistics to over 100 high school students, with 90% earning an A or B. I use data-driven instruction to tailor lessons to each student’s needs and focus on guiding them to think critically rather than simply giving answers. Most recently, I independently taught Chinese 101 and 102 to undergraduates at the University of Michigan while earning my master’s in Instructional Design.
At the core of my teaching philosophy is building real relationships with my students. I believe that learning only truly happens when students feel seen, supported, and cared for—not just as learners but as people. When students know you care, they become more motivated and open to the learning process. I also believe that mistakes are an important part of growth. I encourage students to ask questions and not be afraid to get things wrong, because those moments show me exactly where I can step in to help. My goal is to create a safe and encouraging space where students feel confident to try, learn, and grow.
