I have been a lover of math and science my whole life--even winning the Math Award in my graduating high school class. This led me to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, earning Dean's List every semester. I am in my last semester at Michigan and plan on getting a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine after graduating.

This led me to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, earning Dean's List every semester. I have previously tutored online through another platform and have been doing this for about 4 years. I haven't been getting many students so I am so excited to join Wyzant!
I have primarily taught elementary to high school-age kids in math (algebra I and II, geometry, calculus, and SAT math). Mostly, my students will send me homework or test prep materials that we will work on together during our sessions. Occasionally, a student will not have any materials, but we will go over together the concepts they have been learning in class. My method of tutoring is rooted in letting the students learn what they know. I like to first ask students if they know the answer to a question or have any ideas on how to solve it. If they do know, great! They have just built some confidence that they know how to do this certain type of problem. I am very encouraging and positive and emphasize building the student up. If the student is lost or doesn't know anything, I will teach a concept to them. I am very good at understandably explaining things as I've been tutoring these math concepts for years and am good at communicating how I understand a topic or reframing it to try a different method of understanding that may work better for the student. I also am personally a very visual learner--emphasizing visual explanations and techniques in my teaching.
Tutoring has been so rewarding for me. Watching students grow and gain confidence in an area they may have previously been scared of or dreaded is incredibly exciting for me. I have missed that feeling and am eager to help students learn!
