I'm Oshita (Oshi), originally from India and living in Ann Arbor with my husband. I graduated Summa cum laude with a master's in Industrial and Operations Engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
I've always been passionate about making an impact on students' lives like my teachers, throughout various phases of my life, made on me. I've always helped my peers grasp the concepts taught in class since high school through grad school. When I started getting their feedback on how my teaching style helped them understand a concept better, or how I was crucial to them passing their tests, I realized I am also good at it! During my time as a graduate student advisor, I helped graduate students with course selection, career counseling, interview preparation, resume reviews, etc. At my full time job, I guide college students through real life business and data analysis projects at my company. This helps me continue to engage with tomorrow's generation. Through tutoring opportunities, I wish to broaden my engagement and offer support to a greater variety of students.
I teach concepts through real life examples, focus on learning by doing, and help students learn the concepts behind the problem rather than focus only on the specific problem at hand. I'm open to feedback and to catering to the student's specific needs.
With my background in engineering and having taken GRE and TOEFL for my master's program, I am adept at teaching Math for High school students, and approved to tutor for ACT, SAT, GRE, and TOEFL prep. Having been accepted into some of the nation's top universities like University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Columbia university, I am also available to counsel with college preparation, applications, etc. For college students, I have experience counseling on course selection, careers, interview preparation, resume reviews, etc.
