I'm a previous Kaplan Test Prep LSAT instructor, 97th percentile LSAT scorer, and practicing attorney, as well as a writing tutor with expertise in many genres, specializing in college and graduate school personal essays.
In addition to teaching LSAT test prep for Kaplan, I have years of experience with one on one tutoring. I also have experience with other LSAT prep systems, including Princeton Review and LSAC's free online materials. My professional legal writing experience also equips me to help students optimize the new Argumentative Writing Section. My official score was 170 (97th percentile).
I ask students to provide a recent practice test so I can analyze areas of strength and opportunity for improvement before our first session. During our time together, I work through problem questions with the student to help the student develop mastery of the question type and right and wrong answers, so that this mastery can be applied to recognize and correctly answer similar questions with ease on future tests.
I also work with students to make a plan for private study and any future sessions before test day, to ensure they can make the best possible use of available prep time.
I have an English Master's degree and a JD from the University of Virginia, as well as English and Philosophy degrees from the University of Kentucky. I tutored at the university writing center at both universities, working with all kinds of academic writing, including personal essays for college and graduate school applications, as well as STEM, humanities, creative writing, and graduate theses.
I begin by conferring with the student to make sure I understand their goals for their own writing and their stage of composition. Then I lead the student through a period of focused and guided work on the project and close sessions with a recap and a plan for next steps and any future sessions.
Please contact me with any questions or to schedule a session, and I'll respond right away. I look forward to working with you!
