ESL/ESOL

I completed a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certification course with 170 hours of coursework and 20 hours of practicum. I now hold a TEFL certification. I have broad experience with students of all ages, and a variety of language backgrounds. I have a creative student-centered approach, and each lesson is tailored to the student's individual needs.

Spanish

I have a B.A. in Spanish, I went on a study abroad trip to Spain, and I have studied the language for ten years. I have been helping students learn Spanish for 4 years.

Reading

I have completed a Minor in education and I hold a TEFL certification, and in addition I have three years of tutoring experience (mostly English, ESL, and Spanish). As a teenager, I tutored younger children, and as an adult, I have helped both children and adults with their reading skills. I have worked in learning centers and public schools.

I have always earned excellent grades in English courses in school, including at the college level. I received awards for my writing in 4H fair competitions. I have a TEFL certification. I have several years of experience teaching English, including in a learning center that provided extra reading and writing help to children.

ADHD

My younger brother has ADHD. I have helped him study, and I have seen firsthand his limitations but also how to overcome them in a learning situation. I also took college classes in understanding students with learning-related disabilities and how to help them learn effectively, playing to their strengths while recognizing their limitations and finding ways to keep them motivated and engaged. In addition, I have now been tutoring two young boys with ADHD in several subjects for 1-2 months. I have a minor in Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
