Bio

I tutored logic for 3 semesters at my undergraduate university. Specifically, I tutored other undergraduate students in Symbolic Logic which includes propositional logic and predicate logic (qualification theory). The skills worked on in these courses include tree-tables, short method of validity and soundness, translations, proofs of varying difficulty, and theorems. Additionally, I have advanced my own logic education to include metalogic and modal logic.

The skills worked on in these courses include tree-tables, short method of validity and soundness, translations, proofs of varying difficulty, and theorems. Additionally, I have advanced my own logic education to include metalogic and modal logic.

In my time as a private tutor, I have also worked with individuals on their reading and writing skills with of varying skills, knowledge, and grade levels. I have experience working with students in elementary school, middle school, high school, and post-secondary school. My approach to tutoring is to first grasp what an individuals’ current understanding and level is in a given subject, then develop a plan depending on the length of tutoring, followed by demonstrations of what has been learned. All tutoring and instruction is tailored to each student’s needs and learning styles.

My own academic journey includes a BA in English, a BA in Philosophy, and most recently an MA in Philosophy from Columbia University in 2021. I scored very high in verbal reasoning and in the top percentage in analytical writing sections of the GRE. My academic career has accumulated to a decade in post-secondary education. In graduate school I engaged in workshops dedicated to different pedagogical approaches. I have a flexible approach to the philosophy of education; there is no one correct way to learn, and as a tutor I adapt to student's needs. I adapt my tutoring style to each person's learning style to meet the learning objectives.

English

My first BA degree is in English where the focus is on literature and writing skills. I also earned a BA and MA in philosophy with my primary area of interest is in philosophy of language. This area of the field has a lot of overlap with linguistics. Throughout my career and work experience I have helped people in many subjects including reading and writing skills.

I have experience in creative writing and expository prose.
Logic

Logic

I tutored 3 semesters of Symbolic Logic as a University Tutor. I received a top grade in the class when I took symbolic logic and assisted my Professor in class. I also took Modal Logic, Lattices and Boolean Algebra, as and I am currently in Probability and Decision Theory in graduate school. All of these courses use some foundation of Logic in differing degrees as they are in mathematical philosophy.
Philosophy

Philosophy

I recently earned my MA in Philosophy and I graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 2018. I previously had a minor in Philosophy while earning my first BA in English. Reading and discussing Philosophy provides the greatest fulfillment for me. I have volunteered for the NYAHS ethics bowl for two years and look forward to future involvement. I tutored symbolic logic for 3 semesters as a formal university tutor and continued my academic exploration in philosophical logic through my MA and in extra curricular study groups.

Excellent Tutor

When I first came across logic, I thought there was only one way of forming logic, but Andi taught me four other forms, called the connectives, which is incredibly helpful. Also, Andi teaches me classical logic and the difference between inductive and deductive reasoning, which is an excellent framework for logic beginners.
